Exploring Hope College and What They Have to Offer

Hope College is located in the upper-midwest of the United States which is just a few miles away from Lake Michigan. The main campus is nestled in Holland, Michigan rated one of the “happiest cities” in the nation. Although Hope is a smaller school, they offer massive opportunities. Why Hope College?

Hope College is known for its family-like atmosphere. It’s a welcoming community that embraces its international students. Students who attend Hope feel welcomed not only on campus but also when out in the community. Hope College offers so many opportunities to its students, including a student-centric classroom environment with easily accessible and caring professors who are always available to assist. The faculty to student ratio is 12:1, creating a more individualized approach to learning, fostering positive relationships to make it more beneficial for student success.

As we mentioned, professors at Hope College work very closely with students, and student-faculty research programs are funded by more than $2 million in active grants, making Hope an undergraduate research powerhouse.

Hope College offers an International Student Scholarship (merit-based) award up to $25,000 and all admitted international applicants will be considered for up to the full award.

Is Hope a Christian College?

Hope is a Christian College, and although they do not have a mandatory statement of faith or mandatory chapel, they do offer chapel services three times a week from 10:30 - 10:50 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Over a thousand students attend each chapel service. Even though it is not mandatory, many students truly enjoy what they get out of their chapel services and the fellowship they get to share with other students.

What is it like on campus?

Hope College has a beautiful on-campus residency required for all students for a minimum of three years.

    • Small housing/cottages

  • Two full-service cafeterias

    • As well as a snack bar/coffee shop

What are the Academic Opportunities?

  • Hope College offers over 90 majors, minors and pre-professional programs, with their strengths in STEM, Business, Psychology and Performing Arts

  • 93% of Hope College students participate in Experiential Learning

    • Internship programs

    • Study Abroad

  • 250 students are invited each summer to participate in a paid internship opportunity - this includes international students

The goal at Hope College is to prepare students with experience on campus that translates into the real world. All of these opportunities are resume-building opportunities to best help students find a successful career post-graduation.

What campus facilities does Hope College offer?

  • Fine Arts

    • Accredited Art, Dance, Music, and Theatre programs with studios and multiple performance locations

      • Offered as a major and minor study program

      • Participants come from all majors, for example, you do not need to major in dance to participate in dance

    • $3,000 performance scholarships may be earned by audition or portfolio for all four areas, plus Creative Writing
