Identify a Career and University Major for You!

Every year, thousands of students choose to continue their education by studying at a U.S. university. The benefits are unmatched; not only will you receive a world-class education and strengthen your English language skills through immersing yourself in American culture, but you will begin to learn who you are and you will be able to make decisions based on what you want your future to look like.


Your major will be at the heart of your time in the U.S. What you choose to study will shape your experience and your future. That can be scary to think about but don’t worry - another huge benefit of studying in the U.S. is that you don’t have to choose a major right away. U.S. universities provide the flexibility to change your major and explore areas of interest before you decide what to focus on for your degree program.


While you don’t need to declare a major right away, it’s important to begin getting to know yourself and identifying your skills and interests. What sparks your interest? What careers are in demand in your country? What are your goals for the future? What


Did you grow up playing with legos, taking things apart, and putting them back together? A career in engineering might be a good choice for you.


Do you love interacting with people and helping them reach their goals? Perhaps a career in education or social work.


Do you love coming up with new ideas and enjoy math? Check out business and entrepreneurship.


We also understand that many students have more than one interest or passion. For this reason, students have the option to study a “double major”, meaning you can choose two academic paths of interest and study both during your 4 years at university. You can also explore studying a minor, which allows you to explore different paths and academic emphases.
